Stud Poker sometimes called “Caribbean Poker” is a simple 5 card Poker Game against the dealer. It is played on a table similar to that of Blackjack. There are many different types of poker and this is one of them. Once the initial ante bet is placed the dealer deals 5 cards to the player face down and also 5 cards to themselves. The dealer’s card are face down apart from one card. The up turned card is so the player has some idea of what “hand” the dealer has.
The player looks at their cards and has a simple choice to either “play” or “fold”. If they play then they double their first bet and the show down commences.
The dealer first places their cards face up and will generally arrange them showing a “hand” if they have one. If the dealer has a minimum of ACE/KING High card then they “play”.
The dealer’s hand only qualifies if he has AK or better. If the dealer’s hand doesn’t qualify, he automatically loses. You’ll receive 1:1 on your ante bet and you’ll receive your raise bet back. No additional payouts are made if the dealer’s hand doesn’t qualify.
For example, if you bet £10 on the ante and £20 on the raise (£30 total) and the dealer doesn’t qualify, you’d receive £40 – your original £30 bet plus an extra £10 for the ante bet (even money) payout.
The player’s hands will then be shown one at a time. If the player has a better hand than the dealer then they win.
The players are paid out at the rate below:-
